Yasuaki Hiura
Born in Tokyo. He studied guitar under Hironobu Maekawa and Fukuo Ito.
In 1993 he held his first solo recital in Kyoto.
He later traveled to the West and completed masterclasses with A. Ponce, L. Brouwer, P. Romero and others.
He went to France in 1994 and studied under Mr. R. Andia at the Ecole Normale Conservatory in Paris.
He got his diploma in 1996.
While studying abroad in Paris and after returning to Japan, he studied guitar under A. Pierri, Annaliese by N. Bonnet, and early music by Marco Meloni and Toyohiko Sato.
In 1994, he won the French Picardy Guitar Competition.
Since returning to Japan in 1999, he has held more than 200 solo recitals in Japan and abroad.
In 2003, he won the final prize at the Tokyo International Guitar Competition.
In 2004, he won the top prize at the Agustín Barrios International Guitar Competition in France.
In 2004, he won the 3rd prize at the Bangkok International Guitar Competition.
He won many prizes including the 2004/05 Zuiho Award at the "Japanese Music Exhibition".
He has held solo recitals and masterclasses at guitar festivals around the world, including Spain, Italy, France, America, Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina, and Chile.
In 2011, Standy premiered his Orchestra and Guitar Concerto in Posadas, Argentina, where he received a critical ovation.
In 2013 he was invited as soloist for the Guitar Concerto and Concerto Aranjuez in Bulgaria.
In 2014 and 2019, he was invited as the only Japanese to the world's largest guitar festival, Guitar del Mundo (Argentina), and held solo recitals throughout Argentina.
In 2018, he held a recital commemorating the 25th anniversary of his debut at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.
In 2022, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan recital will be the first recital after the corona disaster, but the tickets have been sold out.
